Organization
The Route des Lasers competitiveness cluster received its seal of approval from CIADT (French government) on July 12, 2005. In July 2008, the evaluation carried out by Boston Consulting Group and CM International, on behalf of the French government, confirmed "the positive dynamics of the players and projects," and the achievement of objectives set for the cluster at the end of its first three years. Approval was therefore renewed for three more years.
ALPhA, governing body of the Route des Lasers competitiveness cluster
The cluster's governing body is ALPhA - Aquitaine Lasers Photonique et Applications, an association created in July 2004, which unites the players in Aquitaine’s optics/lasers sector to carry out coordinated actions of organization and management within the dynamics of the "Route des Lasers" cluster, with backing from 2ADI, the Aquitaine regional development agency.
ALPhA Route des Lasers is a member of CNOP, Comité National d'Optique et de Photonique.
ALPhA is a nonprofit association, piloted by an executive committee, which reports to a board of directors and a general assembly of members. ALPhA is made up of four collegial committees: founder members, companies, educational and research organizations, and government institutions. A scientific and technical advisory board, representing industry and the research community, offers advice in a consultant capacity for certain projects, and concerning the cluster's strategy.
